Julian Hohndorf started with photography in his early teens. His father being a photographer working in fashion and advertising played a great role in this
(his younger brother Philipp became a photographer too and lives and works in Paris).
After being awarded with a couple of local awards in his hometown Düsseldorf while still in his teens, the decision was made. He then started working in both, film and photo studios.
In his photography, he’s mostly trying to document people and their surroundings, staying true as possible to the things found.
Searching for a look that could be either called ‘heightend reality’ or maybe ‘hyper realism’.
Collaborations with filmdirectors such as Sebastian Strasser, Martin Aamund, Bart Timmer and Gary Freedman and others, allowed him to apply a similar approach in his filmwork.
